John Robert Matz is an award-winning composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, music educator, voice actor, and lecturer based in Chicago. He is best known for his work composing for the BAFTA, Game Audio Network Guild and Game Awards award-winning “Tchia”, as well as on a variety of diverse video game scores such as the BAFTA-nominated "Gunpoint", "Mythgard", "For The King", “For The King II”, and the IndieCade audio award-winning period piece “Ambition: A Minuet in Power”.

Classically trained, he graduated with honors from Elmhurst College, majoring in music education, with an emphasis on brass and vocal performance. As a composer, he has incorporated his educational multi-disciplinary musical training throughout his works, performing a variety of wind, brass, string and percussive instruments in his game and film scores, and using his knowledge to stretch instrumental timbres and find new sounds. John Robert is a member of ASCAP, the Game Audio Network Guild, and the video game brass quintet “The Game Brass”.
