Gareth Cousins is a distinguished British score mixer, composer, and music producer with over three decades of experience in the film and music industry. He has contributed to the success of numerous blockbuster films, including the Oscar-winning Gravity, Baby Driver, Suicide Squad, and Notting Hill.
Gareth began his career in the music industry at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios, where he worked as a recording engineer and producer. During his tenure at Abbey Road, he kindled his deep passion of sound mixing and production, developing skills that would later define his career. Transitioning to freelance work in 1993, he focused mostly towards score mixing, composing, music editing and music production for film, television, and video games.
His work on Gravity (2013) marked a significant milestone, as the film's score, composed by Steven Price, won both BAFTA and Academy Awards. Gareth’s passion to craft immersive auditory experiences has also been showcased in films like Baby Driver (2017) and Last Night In Soho (2021), where his love of balancing dynamic soundtracks with narrative pacing was evident. Throughout his career he has also composed music for all media.
Beyond film, Gareth has collaborated with prominent musicians across various genres, including rock, pop, electronica, and classical, and has been involved in projects with iconic artists such as Phil Collins, Elvis Costello, Vanessa-Mae, Bond and Sting. In 2004, he formed Gareth Cousins Music, through which he continues to produce, mix, and compose music for diverse media.
